It is the truth that B/W portraits get to have a different artistic significance,a dramatic approach to one's heart and eye.Since i did this already in color,i had to try in graphite too. Again: Credits to for A generous, kind, talented person
I used: Graphite powder (brushwork) Mechanical pencil 0.5,2B lead Eraser

[link] Time for everbody Listen to the sound and all the lonely people live beneath the ground donīt listen to another just listen to yourself only changes can happens when you change yourself I want run I want hide I only want to live To live my life
Breathe of pain Iīm the ruler of my world Breathe in peace Iīm the ruler of the world
I courage of conviction In everything you do Course every little action Only falls on to you And I donīt want excuses To hear your bitterness Thereīs far to many people Who want to give their best I want run I want hide I only want to live To live my life
Portraying the emotion of the subject drawn is essential to a great work of portraiture, and the reference chosen does just that. With strong contrast, and engaging of the woman's eyes, and an interesting angle, a feeling is strongly conveyed.
The majority of this drawing is executed flawlessly. The detail put into the lips and wisp of hair crossing the hair is very impressive. However, the depiction of the eyes majorly deviates from the reference. I'm not sure what is meant to be portrayed in the unusual textures below them (also above the eyebrows and lips), but to me they are particularly unsettling. The improper handling of highlights I can handle (many highlights are too harsh or misplaced), but the presence of these textures cannot be excused.

Overall this portrait displays exceptional skill and capacity for detail. With a more careful watch on the textures and highlights of a drawing, I believe you will reach a point of exceptional quality.
Christina, I remember a very talented artist once said to me that it is how it makes me feel that is the best critique. And that makes you qualify to be able to give critique! So I will start there, the first emotion is sadness for the story behind the eyes, the expression and face. I feel like their was a lot going on in this mind before this. I connect instantly with her passion and I want to run the backs of my fingers lovingly over her cheek. I personally will always be drawn to the graphite, because it is my fave medium. But in this case the graphite brings even more emotion and story to the piece. The light and shadow on this is outstanding and the eyes are exquisite! My only thing and this purely personal is the earing is a little wierd for me, but it may be your intention to have it look blurred Cheers Jason
hmmm this is a comment i can surely appreciate although it makes me wonder how would it sound to the photographer! In any case thank you very much my dear!
